Peace dialogue

International Think tank
for strategic and geo-economic affairs

Peace Dialogue is a non-governmental, non-profit think tank dedicated to the promotion of trade and economic ties and regional economic integration in Eurasia, including Northeast and Central Asia. It carries out research, trainings and networking drawing on its past and existing partnerships. Its work is based on the premise that trade helps prevent wars as countries that trade with one another are less likely to clash on the battlefield.

Trade and economic relations coupled with infrastructure development must be fostered alongside political dialogue, if lasting peace is to be established in Eurasia. There is, therefore, a critical need to establish integrated and harmonized transit and transport systems linking East Asia’s burgeoning economy with Europe, which would, inter alia, entail enhancing international regulation of transit. Mongolia and other landlocked countries in Central Asia are ideally positioned to contribute to that process

Mission

Strategic and geo-economic anticipation is needed to create geopolitical foresights. Being an established democracy and having amicable relations with all countries in Northeast and Central Asia, Mongolia offers a well-suited platform for regional dialogue.

The think tank acknowledges the importance of expanding its mission beyond public policy levels through collaboration at the business, community and overall expert levels and sees that, parallel to political dialogue, regional trade and economic integration is essential for maintaining peace. It aims to convene and train experts to anticipate strategic and geo-economic trends through research, analytics and expert level dialogues.

Strengthening the rules-based order for sustainable trade and secure supply chain networks within Eurasia, specially international rules concerning the freedom of transit and infrastructure networks, is crucial for connectivity between East Asian economies and Europe

Vision 2050

Within the purview of its mission to cultivate long-term bilateral and multilateral cooperation in Eurasia, the organization’s short and medium-term objectives focus on its Vision 2050:

- To ameliorate regional conflicts and disintegration through dialogues at the level of the youth, academia and government;

- To contribute to regional economic cooperation in Northeast and Central Asia through networking, dialogue, research, analytics and trainings;

- To promote the economy of landlocked countries in the Central Asian region by addressing their common challenges related to the supply chain and international rules concerning the freedom of transit through research, trainings, networking and expert dialogues.
